The Thambal Marik College is a NAAC, Bangalore accredited ‘B’ Grade Government co-educational College located at Oinam, Bishnupur District, Manipur. It was established on the 28th September, 1980 as a private college with financial support from late Shri Laishram Ibobi Singh (donor) in memory of his loving mother late Smt. Laishram (O) Thambalmarik Devi of Sega road, Imphal with the dedicated peoples, sympathizers and local educationists of Oinam, Heinoubok, Maibam, Oinam Khunou, Keinou, Irengbam headed by late Shri Y.Yaima Singh, hono’ble ex M.P., Lok Shabha. It was converted into a full-fledged Government college on 28th March, 2018. The college is providing education in both Science and Arts streams. It was granted temporary affiliation in the year 1983 by the Manipur University. Further, the college obtained the status of permanent affiliation from Manipur University in the year 1997 and included under section 2(f) & 12(b) of UGC act 1956. From its inception, the college opened 10+2 courses as well as B.A. and B.Sc. courses. Now, the college offers honours and general courses in 15 subjects and one having vocational course in Tourism and Hospitality management under RUSA, Government of Manipur. Department of Zoology, Physics, History and Mathematics are providing research facilities under Manipur University, Canchipur and other Universities. Moreover, some UGC, DBT and DST granted research projects are also underway in Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Home Science, Botany, Mathematics and Anthropology departments of the college.
